2nd Half of 2011

The first half of 2011 is behind us. Overall a good mix of guy movies. Check the grades to see the full list.
Here is a look again at the rest of 2011:
Captain America 7/22: Marvel's 2nd movie this year that leads into the Avengers in 2011. Heres hoping Chris Evans can pull off the look and feel of cap.

Cowboys and Aliens 7/29: Cool looking Sci-Fi Western with Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, directed by Jon Favreau.

Conan the Barbarian 8/19: Re-make of the cult classic. If they make him bad-ass, this could be the beginning of a sweet franchise

Colombiana 9/2: Zoe Saldana. Assassin. Revenge. Nuff Said.

The Thing 10/14: Prequel to the great 1982 film of the same name that starred Kurt Russell and Keith David. I would rather see a sequel but I will give it a chance

Immortals 11/11: Don't know much about this movie other than its about a war of the gods, it has the hot chick from Slumdog Millionaire, and I needed a movie from November

Mission Impossible 4 12/16: Probably the last MI for Tom Cruise as Jeremy Renner looks to be taking over the franchise

Thor

When: Sunday May 15th 8:35pm

Where: Joliet Mall

What: The first of 3 Marvel Comic book movies this summer. Thor has received mostly favorable reviews which is a good sign for a superhero movie. Plus it has Natalie Portman which is a bonus. We will be seeing the 2D version as I heard the 3D was crap.

Plan on meeting at TGIF early for a cocktail. Say around 7:30.

Hollywood BLVD Friday

Hmmm, Your Highness or Hanna? What to see, what to see........Screw It! Scream 4 it is!
Went and saw Scream 4 last night at Hollywood Blvd after enjoying a burger and beers at the Tilted Kilt. Bonus sighting of Burt Reynolds walking through the theater as he was there for a special showing of some of his movies. Had a good crowd for the movie which weighed heavily on fun over scares. Decent beginning led to a slow middle and ended with a fun blood soaked finale. If it had managed to get some actual scares in there it would have been a B, but this earns a C+.
Best line of the night was from the weird guy with a wizard cane sitting behind me and Lane. During the movie, there was a line about how if you are gay you have a better chance of surviving a horror movie. At which time the guy said "Alright!"
Next Up: Thor, May 6th

Your Highness

What: Your Highness - A Medieval Action Stoner Comedy .

Where: Hollywood BLVD in Woodridge (75th and Lemont Rd) .

When: Friday 4/15: Drinks around 7 at a bar near the theater, Get to theater at 9 for more drinks at bar in theater and to make sure we get good seats. Movie at 10:00 with more drinks during show.

This movie looks hilarious. It is made by the same guys who made Pinapple Express and stars James Franco, Danny McBride, and Natalie Portman. I like Hollywood BLVD for this movie so we can have some cocktails and appetizers during the show. I say we get a buzz on for the start as well. Lets hit a bar in Woodridge around 7 for some pre-show drinks. Maybe BWW or Tilted Kilt. Will also take other suggestions for bars. Hope to see some of you guys out. Leave a comment if you are thinking of coming out.

Hanna vs. Your Highness

One is about A 16-year-old who was raised by her father to be the perfect assassin is dispatched on a mission across Europe, tracked by a ruthless intelligence agent and her operatives.

The other is a medieval comedy about when Prince Fabious's bride is kidnapped, he goes on a quest to rescue her... accompanied by his lazy useless brother Thadeous.

Both these movies comes out 4/8 and they couldn't be more different. Which one deserves a Opening weekend viewing? Vote and watch the trailers on the right and leave comments below.

Sucker Punch

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hot girls with big guns. One of my favorite sub-genres in the guy movie universe. Sucker Punch is written and directed by Zack Snyder, who did one of my favorite guy movies of years past: 300. Add to that Dawn of the Dead and Watchmen to his resume and that makes him one of my must see directors. I have been eagerly awaiting this movie since I saw the bad ass trailer released last fall so if you haven't seen it yet be sure to check it out. Assume we will go out for a couple beers after to movie, probably BWW.
